Family-owned company continues diamond tradition

Gassan Diamonds, a family-owned company, is housed in a former steam-driven diamond factory in the centre of Amsterdam. The company still focuses primarily on diamond cutting and wholesale and retail trading of set diamonds, loose diamonds, gold jewelry and watches. Gassan Diamonds has a leading position in the diamond industry owing to the introduction of a new proprietary cut, the Gassan 121.
More than 350,000 tourists visit the historic diamond factory every year. Visitors are offered a free tour of the factory, discovering the intricacies of determining diamond quality and the beauty of loose cut diamonds and jewelry. Gassan offers personalised arrangements for individual guests and groups of up to 150 people in the historic building. Gassan Diamonds currently employs some 500 people.

The Gassan Group

Gassan Diamonds is well aware of the importance of the tourist aspect in the diamond industry. For this reason the company and its subsidiaries established the Gassan Group. The Group aims to promote awareness of Amsterdam as the City of Diamonds – a reputation the city proudly bears since 1586. Gassan Diamonds’ subsidiaries are Gassan Dam Square, Gassan Schiphol, Gassan Plaza, Gassan Singapore, and Gassan London City Airport.

Gassan Dam Square

Gassan Dam Square is located at the very heart of Amsterdam. Discover a large collection of loose cut diamonds, exclusive jewelry and a watch collection from over 35 leading brands, such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Blancpain, Breguet, Breitling, Bucherer, Cartier, Chanel, Chopard, Gucci, Jaeger-le-Coultre, Longines, Omega, Piaget, Panerai, Moser, Richard Mille, Bucherer, Tag Heuer, Vacheron Constantin, Richard Mille, and many others. Gassan Dam Square also presents a varied range of classic and modern jewelry to suit any taste.

The flagship store also carries a large collection of other exclusive gifts, such as silver photograph frames, pens and cuff links, including a broad range of items from the houses of Cartier and Mont Blanc.

Gassan Schiphol / Gassan Plaza

In 1967, Gassan Schiphol B.V. established the first Diamond Desk at Schiphol Airport. It was the first duty-free diamond seller. Today the company runs several duty-free shops for travellers, which can be found after passport control . And one shop at Schiphol Plaza, the airport’s shopping centre. Schiphol Plaza can be found before passport control. Gassan is one of the largest concessionaires of Schiphol Airport.
As part of the See, Buy & Fly concept, the Gassan Schiphol Jewelry and Watch shops present a varied collection of jewellery, watches and diamonds. Gassan Schiphol represents many prestigious brands at the airport. The company launched the first Rolex boutique early in 2007, for instance. It was the first time ever that a retailer other than Rolex opened a Rolex boutique at a non-Swiss airport. Other brands found at the Gassan Schiphol shops include Rolex, Omega, Jaeger leCoultre, Breitling, Longines, Raymond Weil, Gassan 121, Choices by DL, Gucci, CK, Armani, Swatch, Icewatch, Buddha 2 Buddha, Mont Blanc, Chopard, Tamara Comolli, Ti Sento, and Dyrberg/Kern.
The Gassan Plaza shop, which is accessible to non-travellers as well, presents a collection of luxury, high-quality and fashion jewelry and watches from brands like Omega, Breitling, Guess, Swarovski, Le Chic, and Tov Jewellery, as well as loose diamonds.

International presence

Gassan Diamonds operates offices and sales representatives all over the world. The company also has a presence at several foreign airports. In addition to its Schiphol Airport shops, Gassan Diamonds runs duty-free jewelry shops at a number of international airports. For instance, in 2008 Gassan opened a shop at London City Airport, an airport mainly catering to business travellersHere, Gassan Diamonds is the first jeweller and the only one to offer watches and jewelry counted as Haute Joaillerie and Haute Horlogerie. Early in 2008 Gassan Diamonds opened five new shops at Changi Airport in Singapore, including a Rolex boutique. The company also operates after-sales offices in Antwerp, Tokyo, Beijing, Bogor and New York.
